Kunstuseum – Den Haag

Due to its highly transparent, all-glass roof with a supporting structure of glass fins, the inner garden of the Kunstmuseum Den Haag serves as a stunning, light-filled garden room. Octatube Services is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of this roof, handling tasks such as cleaning, sealant seam maintenance and structural inspections.

Glass fins

The 28x40m glass roof appears to be delicately balanced on just eight steel columns, creating the illusion of it floating above the existing building. This glass roof is supported by over 200 additional white glass fins, with half being suspended from a transparent glass main fin. At this scale, such a glass roof construction is unprecedented in the Netherlands.

Wind screens

Octatube Services realised unique wind screens on the roof to enhance the museum’s climate control. These screens support the self-regulating ventilation ducts. Using our expertise in the building’s design and construction, we created a custom solution that aligns with the existing architecture.

Maintenance

With the comprehensive annual maintenance package, we relive the building manager of the Kunstmuseum of many responsibilities. Additionally, our knowledge of the structure allows us to collaborate and provide solutions to ensure this valuable property remains in optimal condition.
