Central Plaza – Dublin
Dublin’s Central Plaza, previously the Central Bank building, has been transformed by Hines and the Peterson Group into a bustling center for offices, retail, and restaurants. The highlight of this renovation is a two-story glass-roofed structure engineered by Octatube on the existing roof, an innovative design that incorporated multiple steel RHS beams. The roof, adorned with 152 glass units, expands and retracts to handle thermal expansion and is screen-printed to manage solar load. Unique structural features, including suspended floor slabs upheld by tension rods, were addressed with the application of compact bearing rubbers at the anchors to reduce roof loads.
As part of their ongoing commitment to maintenance, Octatube Services recently replaced a glass panel on the ground floor balustrade, ensuring the continued integrity and aesthetic appeal of the original design.
