Heineken Hoek (The Diamond)
The glass canopy of the striking hotel The Diamond in Amsterdam was damaged after a truck collision. Octatube Services took emergency measures to stabilize the structure and expertly carried out the necessary repairs.
The Diamond is an architectural icon on Amsterdam’s Leidseplein. The building combines advanced engineering with aesthetics, featuring a double façade composed of a white thermal inner façade and an ultra-transparent glass curtain wall. The outer façade consists of over 800 triangular laminated glass panels, each mounted at varying angles on a cable-net structure, creating its distinctive diamond-like appearance. This glass façade seamlessly transitions into a glass canopy, supported by stainless steel brackets.
Emergency Measures
Due to the truck collision, a glass panel and a structural corner bracket of the canopy were severely damaged. Octatube Services took immediate action to stabilize the structure and eliminate any potential safety risks before proceeding with the repair process.
Repair Process
Using a mini-crane, we carefully replaced the damaged glass panel and structural corner bracket. The cladding was reinstalled, and the entire construction was professionally sealed, restoring the canopy to its original condition.
