Studio M2 – Munich
Studio M2 is a sizable student accommodation facility located in Munich’s railway district in Germany. To shield its courtyards from traffic noise, the complex is outfitted with three extensive glass barriers. Octatube Services performs annual maintenance and repairs on these acoustic screens.
Acoustic glass barriers
The sound screens have a self-contained steel structure with three horizontal, fishbone-shaped, tensioned trusses inside. Their design, created by Dotter + Payer Architekten, ensures unblocked views from balconies and apartments. Residents can enter the courtyards behind the sound screens through sliding glass doors. The three structurally glazed barriers have a combined area of about 1,500 square metres with a height of about 20 metres. The glass panels have a maximum size of 3935x1200mm.
Maintenance
Octatube Services conducts yearly upkeep of the glass barriers. Our team meticulously inspects all connecting parts and sealant joints. We examine the doors comprehensively and address any damages on the spot. We compile a detailed report of the maintenance performed, providing our client with a clear picture of the condition of the façade. This way, we ensure that the façade parts last longer and that the costs of repair and replacement remain manageable. This practice aligns with our commitment to prolonging the durability of each Octatube project.
Rope-access
We use rope access techniques along site aerial work platforms to access all areas of the façade, collaborating with local specialists. Since completion of Studio M2 in 2015, we have replaced several glass panels damaged by impact, using authentic materials to preserve the façade’s appearance and functionality.
