New Church – Den Haag

Octatube Services has installed a glass screen at the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in The Hague. The former static screen of 11 by 7 metres has now been turned into a movable structure.

Acoustics

The screen is part of a glass cube that adjusts the church volume from 11,000 m3 to 3,000 m3 for improved acoustics in chamber music. Additionally, the church features an organ that has been restored for use. The original static glass screen hindered the organ sound. Therefore, Octatube Services designed and installed a system enabling the glass screen open and close like a curtain, as needed for different
