New Church – Den Haag

In the New Church in The Hague, Octatube Services has made an 11×7 meter movable glass screen. The screen is part of a glass cube that reduced the volume of the church from 11,000 m3 to 3,000 m3. This was done to optimize the acoustics. The church has an organ that was recently put back into use, but the sound was obstructed by said glass screen. For this reason, a system has been designed and mounted that allows the glass screen to be opened and closed like a curtain, depending on the use. In this way, the church is now suitable for both chamber and organ music.

Such hanging curtain walls for acoustics are not unfamiliar to Octatube Services. For instance, Octatube Services also realized the Glazen Muziekzaal in the LOChal in Tilburg.
